hard time to visualise a case in Coordinate Geometry
In the xy-plane, if line k has negative slope and passes through the point (s, -2), is the x-intercept of line k positive?
(1) s = 0
(2) The y-intercept of line k is negative.
I am able to reach upto the answer ie D.
I was trying to visualise all the cases as S can either be 0, (-)ve or (+)ve.
However, I am not able to visualise the case where S is (+)ve . Please help
This might not totally related to the question asked above, but clarifying whether my understanding is correct?
- if x intercept of a line is zero – that means the line passes thru the origin and nothing can be deduced about its slope (+ve or -ve)
- if y intercept of a line is zero – that means the line passes thru the origin and nothing can be deduced about its slope (+ve or -ve)
Hi TC,
Yes man you are right about the x – intercept and y – intercepts of a line zero.
Please find attached image for the point (s,-2) where S is positive.
Hope this is clear 🙂
thanks! it’s clear now.. BTW I am not a man 😛
