Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.

Option B:

Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.

Option C:

BOTH statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question asked, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked.

Solution

Option C is the correct answer.

Option Analysis

Let x be the positive integer and y be the negative integer. Question: Is x*y < -10?

Statement I is insufficient: Nothing about y. So not sufficient.

Statement II is insufficient: Nothing about x. So not sufficient.

Together I and II,

We know that x > 3 and y < -2

Both x and y are integers.

So x has to be minimum 4 and y has to be maximum -3

So 4*-3 is -12.
