    By process of elimination

    A. Hay fever is a prerequisite for the development of asthma. ( Don’t know can’t say)

    B. Asthma is a prerequisite for the development of hay fever. ( Don’t know can’t say)

    C. Those who have neither hay fever nor asthma comprise less than 5 percent of the total population. Nothing is given about the number or percentage of Asthma or Hay fever patient among the total population.

    D. The number of people who have both of these ailments is greater than the number of people who have only one of them. We know that only 95% of people who have asthma suffer from Hay Fever. People suffering from Hay fever only or only Asthma is larger than people suffering from both. Thus this cannot be our answer.

    E. The percentage of people suffering from hay fever who also have asthma is lower than 95 percent.

Thus we are left with only one answer to mark. It would be easy if we could easily eliminate 4 options like we could do in this particular question

The Northeast region of the United States has a climate that is unique at the latitude. For example, Burlington, Vermont is at 44 degrees north latitude, the same latitude as Southern France. Southern France has a typical mid-temperate zone climate characterized by warm, dry summers and cool winters with only occasional snowfall. Yet Burlington’s climate is similar to that of Anchorage, Alaska and Helsinki, Finland, each or which are located about 1000 miles further north. Which of the following, if true, best helps to resolve the apparent discrepancy discussed above?

A)The warm waters of the Mediterranean Ocean influence the weather of Southern France, especially the French Riviera.  France is used as an example so this option is out of scope.

B)The circulation of air around low pressure centers generally brings cold northern air to the western side of the low pressure. Does not bring any link to the the North-Eastern region of United States.

C)Altitude influences climate as much as does latitude and Burlington, Anchorage, and Helsinki are all less than 200 feet above sea level. If all regions are at the same altitude with different latitude the reason for same type of climate must be something else.

D)The atmospheric jet stream moving across North America is diverted, by the Rocky Mountains, far to the south, bringing arctic Canadian air to the northeastern United States.  Eliminating all other options leaves me with this option, and this reasoning link to the discrepancy.

E)The Western region of the contiguous United States has a stable climate dominated by the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean. Out of scope.
