The meaning in option C is different from the intended meaning.
The hummingbirds were not found WITH their range extending.
Over here ‘extending’ is a modifier which modifies the previous clause, the usage of WITH is incorrect as it changes the meaning.

The reason given to eliminate E in the thread you mentioned is that it “seems wrong” and “wrong usage”. No proper explanation is given as to why E is eliminated.

No. I have a very specific doubt about this question.
My doubt is
In option C,D & E, OG explains that having/spreading modifies ‘analysis’, but my doubt is since verbing modifier is after a comma, should it not modify the entire preceding clause instead of just the subject ?

Isn’t greater used for uncountable or abstract quantities whereas more used for countable ones ?
So gyrfalcon’s numbers are countable hence shouldn’t we use ‘more’ over here ?

Yes. I think it might be the typo. Don’t see any other reason why option E is the Correct answer.
Thanks.

D : It says that “if successfully completed” in the argument. So what if it requires the construction of dozens of miles of new railbed. Since the argument says after its completion it wont ease congestion. Therefore while construction whatever is required will not matter.
A: Since most people voted their primary benefit to be that of less congestion during highway commute, we can assume that most people wont use the expanded rail system and would commute via highway. And since most people would commute via highway the congestion will likely not ease.
Hence A is the correct answer.
