There is no explanation regarding option B as to how that is a run on sentence in the thread you mentioned.

Can you please explain?

The themes that Rita Dove explores in her poetry is universal, encompassing much of the human condition while occasionally she deals with racial issues.

A. is universal, encompassing much of the human condition while occasionally she deals – “The themes” is plural. “are universal” is the correct form. The themes deal with racial issues. It is not Rita who deals with racial issues. Hence this option is incorrect
B. is universal, encompassing much of the human condition, also occasionally it deals – “The themes” is plural. “are universal” is the correct form. It isn’t clear what “it” refers to in this sentence.  “It” can refer to neither “Rita” nor “the themes”. Hence this option is incorrect
C. are universal, they encompass much of the human condition and occasionally deals – “are universal” is correct usage. There should be a “;” in place of “,” Singular-plural issue in “the themes………..occasionally deals
D. are universal, encompassing much of the human condition while occasionally dealing – “are universal” is correct usage.  The sentence conveys the intended meaning by using “encompassing…………dealing”
E. are universal, they encompass much of the human condition, also occasionally are dealing – “are universal” is correct usage. There should be a “;” in place of “,” Incorrect sentence structure in “they encompass…………….are dealing”

The official guide says that another reason to eliminate B is that it is a run on sentence. I understand the other reasons to eliminate B, But can you please explain how B is a run on sentence. I am unable to figure out how B is a run on sentence.
