IR question stem

For each of the following statements, select Yes if the statement can be shown to be true using the information provided. Otherwise, select No.

Could someone discuss the exact meaning of this question stem? Is it

  1. Select “yes” if statement is true?
  2. (or) Select “yes” if information is available (irrespective of statement be true or false).

Might be a silly question, but just want to confirm
