OA A

Whereas lines of competition are clearly defined in the more established industries, in the Internet industry they are blurred and indistinct, as companies that compete one day may be partners the next.

A. Whereas lines of competition are clearly defined in the more established industries, in the Internet industry they are blurred and indistinct, as companies that compete

B. Although the lines of competition are clearly defined in industries that are more established, they are blurred and indistinct in the Internet industry, as competing companies

C. The lines of competition are clearly defined in the more established industries, unlike the Internet where they are blurred and indistinct, as companies that compete

D. Unlike more established industries, where the lines of competition are clearly defined, they are burred and indistinct in the Internet industry, as companies that compete

E. Unlike more established industries, with clearly defined lines of competition, those of the Internet industry are blurred and indistinct, as competing companies

I can eliminate CDE, but both A and B seems worng

A: ‘as companies that compete one day may be partners the next as companies that compete one day may be partners the next ‘, here may be partners the next is not making sense

B: similar case in B

Also, is it ok to have different structure in case of ‘whereas’? Correct answer should have the following structure

Whereas lines of competition are clearly defined in the more established industries, they are blurred and indistinct in the internet industry, as companies that compete one day may partners the next.

Hi Nikita,

A. Whereas lines of competition are clearly defined in the more established industries, in the Internet industry they are blurred and indistinct, as companies that compete – No errors in this option. Read as – ‘as companies that compete one day may be partners the next (day)

B. Although the lines of competition are clearly defined in industries that are more established, they are blurred and indistinct in the Internet industry, as competing companies – As competing companies one day may be partners the next doesn’t make sense meaning wise

C. The lines of competition are clearly defined in the more established industries, unlike the Internet where they are blurred and indistinct, as companies that compete – Incorrect comparison between lines of competition and internet

D. Unlike more established industries, where the lines of competition are clearly defined, they are burred and indistinct in the Internet industry, as companies that compete

E. Unlike more established industries, with clearly defined lines of competition, those of the Internet industry are blurred and indistinct, as competing companies – As competing companies one day may be partners the next doesn’t make sense meaning wise. The comparison is not clear. “Those of” has to logically refer to lines of competition, but there is an ambiguity between lines of competition and established industries.
