a.  Although Elizabeth Barrett Browning was considered among her contemporaries as a better poet than her husband, she was later overshadowed by his success.

 

b. Although Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s success was later overshadowed by that of her husband, among her contemporaries she was considered the better poet.

 

a is given as the right choice, whereas I feel b. is a more appropriate choice. Please comment

2 problems in A.

  1. Considered as is an incorrect idiom
  2. Elizabeth herself was not overshadowed by her husband’s success. It was her success that was overshadowed by that of her husband
