Uses of the irrational
Uses of the irrational number e in fields other than pure mathematics are seen in the calculation of continuous compounding in finance, terminal velocity in the field of physics, exponential decay in chemistry, and the constructing of the standard Western twelve-tone scale in music.

My Ques: what is wrong with option A?
Hi Riya,
The structure solicit the use of parallelism.
Option A, B & C – Does not follow parallelism.
Proper structure should be in the calculation of continuous compounding in finance, terminal velocity in physics, and exponential decay in chemistry, and in the construction . This clearly separates two prepositional phrase in the calculation of continuous compounding in finance, terminal velocity in physics, and exponential decay in chemistry and in the construction of the standard Western twelve-tone scale in music.
Option D – in the calculation of continuous compounding in finance, terminal velocity in the field of physics, and exponential decay in chemistry . Nouns finance and chemistry is not parallel to the field of physics.
Option E is more clear and concise.
Hope this helps !
Hi Riya,
There are 2 parallel lists here
- ARE SEEN – in the calculation of – and – in the construction of –
- continuous compounding in finance, terminal velocity in physics, and exponential decay in chemistry
Hope why the parallelism in A is wrong is clear now.
