Why E is correct and D not
At least 2/3 of the 40 members of a committee must vote in favor of a resolution for it to pass. What is the greatest number of members who could vote against the resolution and still have it pass? (A) 19 (B) 17 (C) 16 (D) 14 (E) 13
My solution At least 40*(2/3)=26.66 means 26 people in favor and pass category so, remaining 40-26=14 should be in another category. what is wrong with my solution?
26/40 = 0.65
at least 0.66667 is needed. Therefore there must be at least 27 votes.. thus 40-27 = 13 (Ans)
Hope this helps.
