Why is option D incorrect?

It is well known in the supermarket industry that how items are placed on shelves and the frequency of inventory turnovers can be crucial to profits.

(A) the frequency of inventory turnovers can be

(B) the frequency of inventory turnovers is often

(C) the frequency with which the inventory turns over is often

(D) how frequently is the inventory turned over are often

(E) how frequently the inventory turns over can be

OA is E. Almost always get this one wrong!

I chose D on parallelism between “.. items are…” and “.. frequently is the inventory…”.

Please help why is it E and not D.

“inventory turn over” is a common phrase. You can google it.

“how frequently is the inventory turned over” – this is in passive voice. Implies that there is an external actor/agency involved.

this sentence, if read literally, implies that someone/something flips the inventory/goods. (turns it upside down).
