SCHULICH ESSAY ANALYSIS OVERVIEW
Schulich has two written essay questions and one video essay. We will be first discussing the written essays and then proceed to the video essay.
Essay Question 1:
How will the Schulich MBA degree help you achieve your short and long-term career goals?
Word limit: 350 words
This is a classic career goal essay, but since it is only 350 words, you will have to be very judicious. For this essay, we recommend dividing it into three divisions.
The three divisions are:
1. Journey- 50 words
2. Long-term & Short-term goal- 100 words
3. How the Schulich MBA will help you?- 200 words
To write these three sections, you need to know your desired job role, title, and company. It is essential to be specific in your short term goals and direction for your long term goals. This section will help you cover 150 words.
Now coming to the third division, it is crucial to mention clearly how the Schulich MBA will help you advance your career goals.
You can focus on the following pointers:
1. What is your obstacle?
2. What do you need?
3. How specifically the Schulich MBA help you?
These are the fundamental questions that you need to address in the last 200 words. Remember to set a context and mention specifically how can this MBA program help you.
Tip:
Give a quick synopsis of your career at the beginning of the essay to establish a background. Otherwise, jumping directly into your short-term and long-term goals could look abrupt.
We now move on to the next essay question.
Essay Question 2:
Is there any other information or areas of concern in your academic or personal history that you believe would help the Admissions Committee consider your application?
Word limit: 350 words
We will evaluate this essay as an optional essay. Keep in mind to share a genuine concern and not mention your fear. A real problem can be a gap year in your education or your career. Ideally, you should choose one or two instances.
Tip:
Many people commit the mistake of looking at their transcripts and having an imposter syndrome. It can be about, for example, feeling that their graduation score wasn’t enough. Remember to not speak about your fears and alert the Admissions team about some aspect of your application that they had previously ignored.
VIDEO ESSAY
Upon submitting your application, you will also have to share a video essay. Many B-schools are conducting video essays to check your ability to articulate yourself at the spur of the moment.
In the video essay, They will have simple questions like, ‘Tell us about the time when you failed’ and you have 30 seconds to think and 60 seconds to respond to the prompt, which will be available on the screen. You will also get to test out the system by answering their mock questions.
Tip:
It is wise to prepare the pointers you wish to speak. For that, you can visit the Kira Testing Platform and attempt their mock questions.
