Hi Riya,

Option E would be correct if the construction was ” Alexandria’s largest library of the ancient world was destroyed, resulting in…………”

This construction creates a cause and effect relationship between the destruction and the rest of the sentence through “resulting”. When you use “and” the cause and effect relationship doesn’t come out.
